Doll in Full Court Dress

Dress c 1740-80

The extra wide panniers came into style in 1740 and went quickly out of fashion again
except at court, where Queen Charlotte (wife of George III) insisted they remain part
of court dress until she died, in 1818. This doll is dated to 1780 by her hairstyle.
