George II Suite with Needlepoint Upholstery
The George II Suite is based one sold by auction at Christies in 1998. The suite consisted of 6 side chairs, 2 wing chairs, 2 sofas and several stools, and was attributed to William Hallet. It was purchased in 1735 to furnish Upton House in Warwickshire. The suite is still upholstered in its original early 18th century needlepoint. We have simplified the rococo design and matched the colours for our needlepoint which worked in stranded cotton on 40 count linen. Like the originals, the pieces are trimmed in a matching tricolour cord. Also like the originals, the backs of the chairs and sofa are upholstered in a matching silk. The pieces were designed for a grand and large room so are generously proportioned.
These pieces are available to special order only. |
